THERE IS a great difference between resisting evil and renouncing it. When you resist evil, you give it your attention; you continue to make it real. When you renounce evil, you take your attention from it and give your attention to what you want.
Now is the time to control your imagination and give beauty for ashes, joy for mourning, praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He might be glorified. [See Isaiah 61:3]

Input from newspaper, radio and television news sources block personal empowerment because thought is focused on topics which are, in general, of a highly negative nature. The non-stop informational assault regarding war, death, disease or other misfortune is highly detrimental as it forms a negative mindset in the recipient. A dependency on external sources is thus created because the mind is not focused on the power each of us have within ourselves.
Through the concentration and focus of positive thought on the object of one’s desire, that object of desire is ultimately obtained. Changing the focus on the power that is within each of us empowers us to discover our true selves and potential.
